It’s almost that time of the year again – Adelaide’s biggest and (probably) favourite celebration that puts everything veg in the spotlight is just around the corner – queue the Vegan Picnic.

Brought to us by the team behind Vegan Festival Adelaide, the Vegan Picnic is similar in style and invites all to the Tonsley Innovation District for one whole day of cruelty-free shenanigans. Initially planned to take place at the Rundle/Kadlitpina parklands in the city centre, the new Tonsley location is undercover and well-protected from the predicted stormy weather.

Reserve Sunday 10 December in your calendar for devouring a mammoth amount of snacks, treats, hot meals, drinks, and everything in between. Not to mention a class line-up of live entertainment and talks that’ll have your inquisitive side pumping.

In terms of the mouth-watering plant-based fare on offer, expect to see renowned vendors with the likes of Staazi & Co, mosey around and sample dairy-free cheese from Milkless Cheese, smash authentic pizzas by Moon Garden, nibble on loaded cinnamon scrolls by Mr Scrollie, and sip alcohol-free bevvies at Don’t Mock Me.

Now that’s just to name a few of the 50 stalls that’ll be turning on the heat at the Vegan Picnic. Chocolates, ice cream, dumplings – if it’s made out of plants, chances are you’ll find your fix – we’ll take the lot!

To compliment the never-ending nosh, the Soy To The World stage will be host to a slew of performers to keep you entertained throughout the day. Legendary guitar player and devoted animal lover, Cal Williams Jr, will serenade your senses, while The Domain will crank soulful tunes and a performance which might just be for the ages.

In addition to the musical feast, Vegan Picnic has a series of engaging and insightful short talks in store. Think: influencers, vegan fast-food founders, ocean warriors, and animal rights activists sharing their stories and knowledge.

Consider the Vegan Picnic a compact version of the award-winning Vegan Festival Adelaide which is often referred to as ‘vegan Christmas’. And whether you’re a seasoned plant-eater or just veeg-curious, the Vegan Picnic welcomes all to tuck into something delish for the taste buds and brain buds.

So jot down 10 December, brush off your picnic rug, rally your fur-friends, and rummage around your glove box for $2 in spare change to cover your entry fee – a small price for a big, adventurous appetite.
