Where would we be without pizza? We’re not too sure, and we also don’t want to know. All we know is that when the cravings hit, there’s just no stopping them. Whether you’re after something more-so traditional or something absolutely jam-packed with vegan che*se and me*ts, there’s a pizza somewhere in Adelaide with your name written on it. Without further ado and in no particular order, here are seven of the best vegan pizzas in Adelaide.

1. Sunny’s Pizza, Adelaide

Dubbed as Adelaide’s ‘clubstraunt’, Sunny’s Pizza serves up cracking Italian fare within a retro-esque dining room, complete with disco balls and wood-panelled walls. The eggplant parmigiana pizza has the vegans of Adelaide coming from left, right, and centre to Sunny’s. It’s topped with tender chuncks of the eggy-p, garlic confit, basil, punchy San Marzano tomato sauce, and plant-based mozzar*lla that will have you questioning the laws of vegan che*se physics. Chow it down along with a cocktail and something from the ‘Not Pizza’ menu.

Where: 17 Solomon St, Adelaide

2. Coccobello, Frewville

It’s chic, it’s low-lit, and it’s modern Italian at its finest. Coccobello sits right on the outskirts of the CBD in Frewville, and they’re doing something right when it comes to their pizzas. With a two-page vegan menu, you’re not short of choices – while the pizza section enlists five traditional-style discs. Coccobello’s pizzas really say, ‘less is more’ when it comes to toppings, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and the gooiest blobs of mozzar*lla.

Where: 209 Glen Osmond Rd, Frewville

3. Sonny’s Pizza Bar, Klemzig

Not to be confused with Sunny’s in Adelaide’s city centre, Sonny’s in Klemzig is the polar opposite in terms of pizza, venue, and just about everything else. Sonny’s Pizza Bar offers a truly extensive menu with 13 options up for grabs, each loaded with house-made mozzar*lla and bocconc*ni, as well as Sonny’s very own range of veeg me*ts. Sink your teeth into something along the lines of the AB pizza – stacked with mozzar*lla, marinated l*mb, onion, tomato, thick-cut fries, and drizzled with both garlic and BBQ sauce – wowee.

Where: 8/50-52 O G Rd, Klemzig

4. Melt CBD, Adelaide

Melt CBD is the place to be if you’re after a bit of a wine and dine. The open-kitchen offers a little insight on the lifespan of your pizza for a spot of table-side entertainment. Melt CBD’s pizza bases are crisp and thin, putting the spotlight on the toppings, and they don’t shy away from layering them up either. You’ won’t find any vegan che*se or me*ts covering the fresh produce atop the aptly named ‘vegan’ pizza, just a blanket of roasted pumpkin, caramelised onion, olives, broccoli, cherry tomato, and spinach, along with a sprinkling of parsley and a wedge of lemon which really makes the flavours pop.

Where: 38 Waymouth St, Adelaide

5. Pizza Infinity, Broadview

Who would’ve thought – this unsuspecting pizza shop in Broadview whips up some of the best vegan pizzas in Adelaide. Pizza Infinity churns out mega pies with the whole kit and caboodle – che*se, me*ats, and all. Under the purple glow of the neon signage, chomp into one of Infinity’s 10 vegan pizzas like: the Super Hot with che*se, h*m, sal*mi, capsicum, onion, jalapenos, and chilli on a tomato sauce base. If you’re in the mood for something greasy (in the best way possible), consider Pizza Infinity for your next fix.

Where: 2/160 Hampstead Rd, Broadview

6. Pep’s Pizza, Ascot Park

Pep’s Pizza in Ascot Park is your run-of-the-mill takeaway joint. The lowly pizzeria serves up traditional and gourmet options, 19 of which are up for grabs for us vegans. Think juicy mock me*ts and stringy che*se that give you the mouthfeel of a time before you were on the plants. Get a load of Pep’s: Satay Chic, Meat Cravers, Prawn Garden, or perhaps the Veggeroni pizza.

Where: 1/2A Daws Rd, Ascot Park

7. Beach Road Pizza, Christies Beach

Although not entirely close to Adelaide’s city centre, Beach Road Pizza in Christies Beach may just be worth the journey down the freeway. With beginnings in 2022, Beach Road is your standard Aussie pizza shop, set with just a couple of tables in case you’re frankly starving, with the addition of a nice lil’ street-side scoffing strip. 11 dough-y creations are yours for the taking, with the likes of: Pesto Delight, Me*t Lovers, Chick*n Zing, and BBQ Be*f. Beach Road’s pizzas have been described by one hangry vegan as ‘the best I’ve ever had in my life’ – start the car!
