If you live in Adelaide, chances are you’ve been out for a night at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre – whether that’s to catch your favourite band, to laugh out loud with comedic geniuses, or to be mesmerised by an ice skating affair.

The Hindmarsh locale is a mere five-minute drive north-west of the CBD, but unfortunately a bit of a trek by foot – not what you want when hunger sets in. Well blessed be, there are a number of eateries in walking distance to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and six in particular that are super vegan-friendly. Take a look at our guide to the best vegan-friendly dinner spots near Entertainment Centre in Hindmarsh.

1. New Local Eatery, Hindmarsh

New Local Eatery is a diamond in the rough – easily overlooked, but a real shame if so. This restaurant is one of those places where you can dress up or dress down and no one would bat an eyelid – it’s whatever you want it to be. New Local Eatery boasts a seasonal menu with punchy flavours and uncommon combinations. Take the: fried potatoes with green pea sauce, baby cos, flat beans and dijon dressing; or the Kerlan masala roasted eggplant with toasted cashews, fresh coconut salad, cucumber, green chilli, boondi and pickled lime. Stay for one meal or indulge in the tasting menu.

2. The Gov, Hindmarsh

As a live music venue itself, The Gov has got the lot. The old-school pub is made up of various rooms – some for dining, some for board games and chatting, and some for rocking out. And while The Gov has seen bands with the likes of Sly Withers, The Living End, Hozier, and Smokie (soon to) take to the stage, sometimes the neighbouring Entertainment Centre nabs the crowds.

Nevertheless, popping in for a bite to eat before a show is more than welcome. With a recent update to The Gov’s vegan offerings, the menu enlists: bhaji with sweet potato, zucchini and corn; Lebanese-style maghmour of baked eggplant, spiced chickpeas, roasted capsicum and spinach; and a chick*n schnitty – amongst The Gov’s vegan fare.
