Truth be told, stomachs don’t stop rumbling just because it’s a long weekend – and sometimes the packet of two-minute noodles in the back of your pantry just doesn’t cut it, or slurp it, in this case. Well, the Gods just happen to be looking over the vegan community of Adelaide, with a number of plant-friendly cafes and restaurants that are welcoming diners with open arms during the Easter long weekend in Adelaide. And although not all of these eight eateries will be open every single day across the four-day weekend, they’re definitely open at some point. 1. Osteria Oggi, Adelaide

Starting off strong, ol’ faithful Osteria Oggi in Adelaide’s CBD will be open every dang day across the Easter long weekend from 11:30am ’til late. They’ll be slinging all of their Italian goods from left, right, and centre, including some mighty fine spaghetti as seen in our guide to the best pasta in Adelaide.

2. PingAn Veggie Time, Bowden

With a feature in our guide to Adelaide’s 100 per cent vegan eateries, as well as the best dinner spots in walking distance to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, PingAn Veggie Time inside Plant 4 Bowden is itty bitty in size, but jam-packed with big flavours. Think Thai dishes like: satay noodles with squ*d and pr*wn; bbq steamed buns; and homemade Thai curry. PingAn Veggie Time will be open everyday during the Easter long weekend from: 12pm until 8:30pm on Friday; and from 12pm until 3pm on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday too.

3. Mister Sunshine’s, Thebarton

Tucked away deep in the Thebarton industrial precinct lies Mister Sunshine’s – a homey cafe amongst the gum trees that has just undergone a mammoth renovation. The vegans of Adelaide are well looked after at the retro-esque eatery offering dishes with the likes of: curried beans on toast with pickled onion, and coriander; along with a scramble of sorts with spring onion, shallot, hot sauce, and spinach on toast. There’s usually a selection of vegan cakes awaiting on the countertop too. Mister Sunshine’s will be open on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 7am until 2pm each day.

4. Great Nature Vegetarian Snacks & Grocery, Christies Beach

Another entirely vegan eatery has understood the assignment this Easter long weekend in Adelaide – Great Nature will be swinging their doors open four-out-of-four Easterly days. The southern suburbs cafe and grocery store serve up a buffet of hot foods including plenty of curries, and fried goods like spring rolls – and if you’re lucky you’ll be able to get your hands on some Easter treats in their adjoining grocery store. Great Nature’s opening hours are: 11am ’til 3pm on Friday, Sunday, and Monday; as well as 11am ’til 4pm on Saturday; but “open later for desserts and groceries”, according to their Facebook page.

5. Staazi & Co., Adelaide

If there was ever a time to say ‘thank the Lord’, it’s after finding out that yiros powerhouse, Staazi & Co. is open during the Easter long weekend in Adelaide. The 100 per cent vegan, Greek street food outpost plate up drool-worthy yiros complete with succulent, charred me*ts, and plates loaded with oregano chippies, tzatziki, pita, and a hint of salad – fooling the omnivorous near and far. Staazi & Co. will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 5pm and 8pm.

6. K-Pub, Adelaide

Admittedly not open across the majority of the Easter long weekend, but nevertheless, K-Pub will be welcoming diners on Good Friday from 5pm until 9:30pm for all of your Korean cravings. 7. Cakeboy Donuts, Bowden

Easter and sweets go hand in hand, and if you’re tempted to treat yourself at the last minute, never fear, Cakeboy Donuts will take the wheel. The Plant 4 Bowden market stall fry up and ice their pillow-y d’nuts daily, ensuring that they’re all completely vegan, of course. Plus, Cakeboy’s donuts are a sublime way to satisfy your aches for the dearly departed Cherry Darling’s Bakehouse. Cakeboy will be setting up shop between 12pm and 9pm on Friday, as well as 10am ’til 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

8. Sunny’s Pizza

As highlighted in our guide to the best vegan pizza in Adelaide, and the best restaurants in Adelaide’s West End, Sunny’s Pizza know a thing or two about dough. The buzzing nook ensures that the energy stays at an all time high with their in-house DJs, a cocktail list to boot, along with disco balls aplenty – it’s all part of the Sunny’s experience. Get in on Friday and Sunday from 6pm ’til late, and on Saturday from 5pm ’til late.
